Journeys of Brazenwood
"The brave
captain does not give up
until he reaches his destination."
Brazenwood: Book One of the
Magishar Trilogy
My first journey was when I was still a fictional character
in the mind of my dad.
I was born the day he printed the book out and named for the
main character,
Arian Brazenwood, a heroic wood elf ranger. You can read
some of the book and even order a copy of the first edition
here.
Key West, FL
On my next journey I ended up as a baby in Key West, Florida
on
December 22, 1995. Here's a link to my astrology chart.
It's a map of
my potential that my dad uses to guide my home-schooling
education.
We lived in Key West until I was four. I used to love
running up and down
Higgs Beach. One of my dad's astrology clients thought we
were interesting people
and made us into character's in her novel called Learning to
Float: A journey of a woman, a dog, and just enough men.
In the book my dad's name was changed to Leon and mine was
changed to Atlas Astroworld! LOL
Costa Rica
My dad thought he would activate my Jupiter conjunct Sun
aspect
(the mark of the philosopher and explorer) in my chart early on
by taking me to a foreign land. So we took a bus to Miami
and we flew
to Costa Rica for a month of backpacking with the baby!
Check out some pictures of that amazing journey!
I was only five months old at the time.
CloudCroft, NM
After leaving Key West, we journeyed to New Mexico
where my Nana lived at the time. We stayed in a cabin up
in the mountains
for a year and it was fun making fires in the woodstove each
night
and playing games with my dad.
Boone, NC
My dad went on a spiritual journey to the Rainbow Gathering
in 1999,
and when he came home decided that it was time
to move to North Carolina. He wanted to move to Asheville,
but Boone NC was really calling to him. So off we went to
live in another cabin in the woods on this archaeologist's land.
We had a lot of fun in Boone and made some new friends:
Angela and Brett, who will be friends for life.
I used to go into work with my dad at a restaurant called
Angelicas at age 4,
and I would sit and meditate on his smoothie making counter for
five hours.
Then we would have a huge stir fry burrito! That's when
people started calling me the Miracle Child. This photo
was taken at the restaurant.
Boulder, CO
During our stay in Boone my dad was always telling me stories
about a fierce dragon that lived in the mountains of his home
town Boulder, and that one day we would go on a journey to slay
the dragon. On the way across the country we encountered a
very cold African American on a Greyhound bus. Everyone
did what they could to help him get warm, and in the end he was
stacked high with people's clothes, but you could still hear his
teeth chattering. So I asked my dad if I could go heal him
with my Reiki healing gift. He said yes, so I went back to
the stranger and asked him if I could heal him. He said,
"Let's see what ya got little man." So I rubbed my hands
together like my dad taught me and focused my healing energy
from the heart and let it surge into him. Not only did it
work for him, he got hot and had to give everyone's clothes and
blankets back. The bus driver even got to turn the AC back on.
It was great! The day after we arrived in Boulder, we
hiked up the Flatirons to find that pesky dragon and his whole
clan of dragons. We had a heroic battle with them all and
saved the city of Boulder for good.
Asheville, NC
After returning from Boulder my dad knew it was time to move
to Asheville.
Sooner or later the hermit's got to come out of the woods!
We found a great big
blue house to live in with an awesome loft where my room is at.
We play Dungeons & Dragons on the weekend, and also board games,
X-box (our favorite is Star Wars Battlefronts). I've had
many interesting characters in my dad's tabletop role-playing
campaign, including the halfling ranger/rogue Cobbletoss, the
brave ranger Allodin, the Ninja named Shizuka, and most recently
the scout called Akiro.
I love designing and playing characters!
We took a filmmaking class when I was nine and began making
films, one of Brazenwood which is going to take us at least two
years, and one of my poetry. I started writing poetry at
age five 1/2 and my dad and I created a DVD of my poetry which
includes scenes of me doing poetry at the local Open Mic poetry
night here in Asheville at Beanstreets coffee shop.
