The Solstice

Glistening-eyed children gather

by the hearth with family.

Patterns blaze in the fire to reveal love.

Through the frosty window icicles

hang in winter silence as

starry snowflakes drift on

the whispering winds.

The branches of the trees

are covered in snow.

During this season of long, cold nights

the sun stands still, preparing

our hearts for laughter.
